When selecting a real estate professional it is important that you work with one that understands the entire relocation process and who can draw upon a vast wealth of knowledge to help make the transition as stress free as possible.
Having relocated with my family to Maryland I understand how stressful, but exciting it can be.
Since 1987 I have assisted many families moving to, or from the area. I have worked with a wide range of employers from Volvo to Fortune companies, such as Johnson and Johnson, Pepsi Cola, Owings Corning and many Government agencies within the Department of Homeland Security, along with D.E.A, Department of Defense, A.T.F, I.R.S and many others.
Real Estate Relocation Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
- Not Understanding Your Relocation Package - You should discuss your move, not only with your relocation counselor who will explain the relocation package, but also your CPA and financial planner who will explain the financial impact of your move.
- Not Researching the Demographics, Neighborhoods and Schools - Contact the local Chamber of Commerce for a wide array of neighborhood information. Check out my Links section within my website for school information and much more.
- Not Researching what Money can Buy in the Areas you are Considering to Purchase In - Refer to the Buyers section within my website for information on home values in the areas you are considering.
- Not Getting your Loan Pre-Approved before you Move - When writing a contract, your offer should contain a pre-approval letter from a lending institution. This letter will contain information from the lender that assures the seller that you have the financial capability to purchase the property. I can suggest a number of lending institutions.
- Not Understanding the Moving Process - Whether you employer provides moving services or not, you should research ways that will help make the process be as smooth as possible. These would include whether the company guarantees pick up and delivery dates, packing options, and provisions in the contract regarding broken or damaged goods. Feel free to contact me regarding our moving services.
- Children's Concerns - Reseaching in advance the areas in advance will help your children adapt more quickly to a new environment. It will be helpful to research, the sports clubs, theater groups and local entertainment such as Zoos and Museums. Check out my Links section within my website to help you get started.
